Anyone using gas saver set from arc-zone.Wondering if they are worth the price. As you know, the price of Argon has skyrocketed in the last few years.Just want to know if the benefits outweigh the cost.

The clear cups tend to be a bit of a gimmick, IMHO. If you use any of the Linde-compatible torches, you can just buy the standard gas lens collet body and cups. They are a bit larger than the standard cup setup but give a much more uniform gas coverage and are cheap. 30% reduction in gas flow is not uncommon. tool_man 10-01-2008, 03:15 PM Thank you for the reply.30%....that is a substantial reduction.I am using a Radnor #17 torch at the moment.I thought the Arc-Zone package was a bit expensive. The web site is painfully slow and product information is minimal at best. Again....thank you for the information thedoctor 10-03-2008, 11:59 AM Wow, you are using the #1 most common version of TIG torches! The parts you need are: Collet body 45V25 for 1/16" 45V26 for 3/32" 45V27 for 1/8" Gas cup 54N18 1/4" 54N17 5/16" 54N16 3/8" 54N15 7/16" 54N14 1/2" Use standard collets. You will also find that you can run a longer arc-length and still get good gas coverage. Have fun! tool_man 10-03-2008, 04:50 PM I checked local suppliers. Some had gas lenses,no insulators, insulators,no gas lens,no cups, ect. All had one thing in common,$17 just for the gas lens.I really like to support local welding shops but,I found a supplier on E-Bay,in my state, who is selling complete gas lens sets(Weldcraft and generic) for less than the cost of the gas lens alone. They also stock cerriated tungstens which I need for my square wave tig.I ordered 3 sets yesterday.Should receive them today.Playtime!!!!! |
