Syncrowave 250 (Tig)
Millermatic Challenger (Mig)
Harbor Freight 130A (Tig) Yeah, I know, it's not a Miller.

I haven't used the Harbor Freight welder very much but so far it works well and I haven't had any problems with it. It is certainly not a Syncrowave but it cost under $200 and is very portable. I do miss the foot pedal and lack of high frequency start but I still think it's a great deal for the price.

My stuff is all Chinese or Korean, you would expect that though given where I am!
300amp single phase AC/DC water-cooled Dyna (Korean)
3 160-200 amp DC tigs 2 units are inverter but I like the buzz of the transformer!(local)
200 amp 3phase tig monster (Taiwanese)
40amp Cebora plasma ...very good unit, super robust (it's Italian)
160amp dc stick and a 160 amp ac stick welder (Taiwanese)

My buddies with $$$$ buy Kempi welders I think they are Italian too! I can't even afford a Kempi sticker! All my stuff is reclaimed one way or another!:)

Deltaweld 300
Shopmate 300DX with spoolmatic 30A

Syncrowave 200
Maxstar 150 - I didn't see these in any ones list. I have 4 of them and use them both in the shop and in the field. They are dual voltage and should be considered by any who do s/s in areas where only household current is available. However inverter technology still doesn't come cheap.

The little Miller I bought over Christmas is a Millermatic 140 with auto-adjust. Haven't used the auto-adjust feature, I like being able to control the flow. So far, really like it. Never used wire weld before, but for the small size metal I'm playing with, it screams.

The only miller I have now is my XMT-304. It has a S-54 feeder, Optima Pulse Pendant, Smith Gas Proportioner, CK Spool Gun.

Also have a Dynasty 300DX at work.

Used to have a couple Aerowaves, Maxstar 140 and 150, Thunderbolt 225.

And I have work on many, many more.

Anyone had an experience with a Hobart Plasma Cutter the 110 volt type...I am building pipe corrals and fences...any suggestions before I purchase...

I would like the air compressor built in... pros and cons...

Thanks, Rod1945

It seems almost all the 110 unit, mig, cutter ect. draw lots of current so you will need a good power supply,I did wel 1/2" aluminum double beveled with one in ac output mode but it needed a 30 amp 120 Vac supply.

synchrowave 250
autoset 140
300 synchrowave(actually is Airco 300 heliwelder w/pulse)

I prefer the older Airco machine over the modern Synchrowave 250 -- it welds better all around-has pulse- and it doesn't draw as much electricity. It's only drawback is that it is heavier than a dead minister- but its on wheels now. It's sweet on aluminum too!

Newly signed-on here, but been at it for a long time. Past Steel-mill maintenance welder for 30+ years, retired tinkerer now.

I bought my first Miller new around 1976?, I still have it. It is a 250 Dialarc HF with optional power-factor correction caps and foot-pedal.

After that, I bought an Airco Dip/stick 160 (simimal to or made by Miller?). Still use it also.

Recently, I needed (always wanted one) a portable gas-drive.
So I found a Miller Legend KCxxxxxx (1992?).

I also have had several Craftsman buzz-boxes of which I sold the 225a, and kept a little 120v 90-100a unit ( hate AC machines for stick ). It needs put on Craigslist !!
I hauled it around in my bucket-truck for emergency things, but will probably have the Legend with me nowadays?

I have a Millermatic 252 mig welder, I like the way it runs, its easy to handle. Thinking about getting another machine and giving this one to my son, anyone have any ideas on which mig welders are good?

New member here,

I had a Miller Dialarc 25HF since 1984, bought it new from a local welding supply house. It's been very reliable machine over the many years but not in a production enviorment. Recently purchased a Dynasty 350 and am learning about all of the settings.
