Hi
I have a tig and a mig welder, but I only want to keep the Mig (with flux wire gasless) I don’t have the space for both and I have other plans.

What I want to know, is there any way I could make my Mig so I can have the tig welder wire fitted in so I can use mig wire or sticks if I want depending on the job as I have a spot welders gun also that attaches to my tig end.

So ie, a mig and tig welder in one :D

my mig only lets wire out and gas when pressed but will spark when the button isn’t pressed, so it has a permanent power feed to the end if that helps.

Hope some one can help on this

Thank you :)

Barking up the wrong tree.

MIG is a Constant Voltage power supply, TIG is Constant Current.

Even though I don't understand what your REALLY trying to do, or why, I give you points for trying to think outside the box.

BTW, they do make TIG/MIG welders, but note that it says right on the front, CC/CV POWER SUPPLY

As mc states they do make a MIG/TIG combo. I happen to have a small Snap-On YA212 ( I think that's the model). The problem is that the TIG is limited to DC applications only as well as scratch starts. There probably is something more versatile out there, I have several multi process machines and dedicated machines so I really don't use the Snap-On machine any more and I have never used the TIG function.

Keep your TIG and buy a Readywelder you can hook the spool gun to your TIG welder and even weld Aluminum with Dc using it.

Hi Big Jim,
Readywelder is interesting product. As I read, its using batery for mig. Did you say that this wleder can do tig using spool wire like people doing it in mig?

Want I meant is that you can hook the spool gun to your TIG welder and MIG weld.

90% sure you can only weld aluminum using a spool gun on a TIG. MIG is a CV power supply, TIG is CC.

From site,

The Ready Welder can also be used as a Spool Gun, by connecting it to a Stick Welder or a conventional MIG machine. It operates from 115 AC volts while plugged into any welding device which might require a Spool Gun, for example, as when welding aluminum.
