Hi from Arizona. Just purchased a new welder (TIG) and plasma cutter. Still learning, although I had a stick welder years ago but gave it to a nephew.

Most interested in fabricating in stainless steel. Currently building a 36" metal brake, almost done. Need the brake to fab SS doors for a built in BBQ.

Ready to fire up a small furnace to melt aluminum, did the air injector in SS tubing, like the way the TIG welds. Several other small projects in works. Also building a larger powder coat oven to put finishing touch on other projects.

Welcome to Welder Zone, HerbD. I'm Johnny, a stick weldor, SA200 preferred. Sounds like you've got it all together! I've worked SS some over the years, when the settings and the sitting are right it's nice welding. I'm new here myself, from NM.

Thanks Johnny, appreciate the reply.

Just need to figure out how to get more hours in the day. Now that I've retired I'm trying to get caught up on all the projects that had to wait and wait and wait till . . . . LOL

I do my welding in the back yard under an olive tree. Had several weeks of decent weather but it is about 105 again and probably will stay there for a couple of months. At least I don't have to worry about the electrodes getting damp :)

I was in Tuscon in the late '60s, I know how hot AZ is! I spent 12 yrs in Louisiana, been back here in NM 2. It's hot here too in the summertime but at least we don't have to deal with the humidity. I welded offshore after Katrina and Rita in 2005 and the humidity liked to of killed me. The weather here has been pretty dry, been in the triple digits off and on. Looks more of them in the weeks ahead though. I'm in the backyard under an old Elm tree, amazing what a man enjoys after retirement isn;t it?

Yes, you are so right. I'm enjoying having the time to do what I want to do, and in some cases, things that I had put aside for years. It is interesting that what some might call work I find to be an interesting hobby.

Unfortunately some of the things that I knew how to do and waited to do are now more difficult because of so many regulations.
