Well, I guess I'll break the cherry and post up a couple of pics of my personal projects. I wished I could post some pics of work I've done for customers but that violates company policy.

Interested to see what anyone else has!

Thank you. And yes, I give A LOT more credit to the guys who start off with what they have. I admire a person who can do more with less. The old guys are right, if you have the money, the equiptment will almost do the work for you!

Pics of my supercharged Mustang GT coming soon. Time to wrap up this project, had to machine and fabricate the manifold from scratch! Probably won't do that again...

Trying to figure out exactly what that aluminum thing is in the 4th picture... what is it?

The bottom half of a supercharger manifold. It's like the Cobra manifold for the Eaton blower, but I had to make one for a Mustang GT. I'll post up pics of the car soon.

Wow, you do really good work! I wish i had the tools at home to do this kinda stuff... If I tried to get away with it here at work I'd end up fired if I wasn't careful!

I own a small machine shop, 3 people (soon to be 2). Benefits are great, I would never be able to afford the equiptment otherwise. Plus every job I've had, they would let you drill a couple holes on lunch, maybe do a quick milling or turning job, but nothing of great complexity, conflict of intrest I guess. They think if you have time to work on personal projects, you should be working overtime.

Started as a hobby, I was into turbocharged race cars and sport bikes. Started spending so much money that I had to make a couple bucks on the side to support my habit. Just kinda snowballed from there. And it just kinda turned into a full time job, basically started making more money that I was at my day job, so I spent more time working for myself and the day came that it didn't make sense to goto my day job any more and that was it, shoved off into the wonderful world of self-employment... And now I know why small shop owners always say "just keep your day job"... And now I know why! LOL! It's not all bad, but it is a lot easier to just goto work 7am to 4pm and collect your paycheck on Friday.

I also do work for mold shops (mold machine repair and matience parts, not molds) and other fabricators. And I also do well doing repair work. When people around here tear up thier sport bike, they head straight for my shop... And then they cry they have no money...

Actually, that swing vavle assembly is for Grand National turbo's. I had a buyer who was buying them 10 at a time, 20 a month. It was a good job while it lasted. Don't know if he found someone to make them cheaper? Haven't made any since.

i utilize the company cnc machines on my time routinely. how else are you supposed to get better, as it's your program, material, and tooling at stake, you get good fast. a $500 custom toolholder gets wadded up, the company pays for it not you so its different.
