Hi all,

I am a 56 year old ex-pat Brit, resident in France for nearly thirty years. I begun welding when I was twenty, training as a motor mechanic. I started with gas welding as this was the most readilly used in garages at that time. I moved on to ark welding when I became a heavy vehicle mechanic. For a little over thirty year years, I had nothing but a big AC buzz box and had to do everything with it! Three years ago, I bought myself a second hand SAF Mig 400 BL and a couple of months ago I bought a SAF Nertabloc 250 Tig. I earn my living building sets and props for Television and Cinema. I work mostly in metal, but also wood, plaster, plastics, the list it long!

All this happens in a suburb of Paris not far from the City limits. I live and work in the same building when not on location! I have a pretty well equiped work shop, that I've built into an industrial space. It's a kind of dream come true!

Hi,

In my experience of this kind of group, one doesn't give directive posts, even with a smiley. Participation is not obligatory, one responds when one wants too, particularily when one has something to say ;-).

I would suggest that safety is not only about what hurts now, but also about what hurts in the future, I suspect that skin cancer hurts, I may be wrong, but I as I haven't as yet got it, I have no personal experience of it ;-). So watch out for sunburn.
