Default Welding Project Corrals and Gates

I purchased 3200 feet of pipe a bit rusty, and will begin the project...the pipe pieces have been in water wells and I got a good deal or so I thought...

600 lineal feet to fence with gates and chutes...

Please help me out... I also have new to me an older Lincoln WeldanPower 6000 watt , welder and generator...and will try to use a plasma cutter for the first time... it is a 110 Volt.

What I am in need of is help to find out how to cut the ends of the pipes so that they fit the Posts that are upright (saddle cuts) ...and additional help or ideas on the gates, would be most useful. Also need to cut the ends and bend them so that they plug the top of the posts...Post will be 2.5-4 inch and the rails will be 1.5-2inch water pipe out the open...

I retired June 6th after teaching for 35 years, and I figure that this is a 1-1.5 year project... this will go all the way across my place... I will try to put in some pictures as I go along and will share my frustrations, and progress.

Please feel free to give me any advice, or course corrections.

Thanks, Rod

For the saddle cuts, use a hole saw with a notching jig on a drill press, that's the best way to do it. Google JD2 or JD Squared, they sell one. Harbor frieght, ebay, lots of places to buy them.

Plasma cutting saddles would be a little difficult. I would make templetes out of plastic sheet (plastic shim stock works great for this), trace a line and cut it by hand/eye. CNC is the way to go. I know Steve has a 4th axis for his plasma table, would be the easiest way for sure. Or make a wooden buck for your plasma torch to follow around. Good luck!
